Dazed - Front cover and Double Page

The Dazed FRONT COVER and DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD MAGAZINE

  • On the right-hand side of this double-page spread, there is the main image with little writing. The image is a woman captured in a medium-long shot. Based on how she is being presented with her posture and body language, the audience is assuming the woman is a model.
  • The black dress codes are very visible to the audience which allows them to easily look at the choice of costume portrayed in the main image. The use of dress codes, the furry jacket, and the make - up connote a sense of wealth and style. This represents and reiterates the idea that she is a model.
  • The indirect use of address connotes a sense of seriousness like she's looking at a different camera
  • The use of the white background in the main image is effective and attractive, it targets the audience by its clean and simplistic effect. The contrast against the black costumes the model is wearing makes the background stand out.
  • On the left-hand side, the masthead is included. It is the biggest and boldest main piece of text in the double-page spread; the fact that it uses two combinations of contrasting colours black and white on a plain white background makes the Masthead stand out. This attracts the audience immediately and allows them to distinguish the double-page quickly.
  • There is a smaller picture of the same person only with a different posture and different fashion clothing, this reiterates her as a model.
  • The big text writing gives more insight to the double-page, the names written in bold above connotes that they are important and would contribute heavily to the information of the text.

An artist who has signed and worked with XL include Adele, Dizzee Rascal and The White Stripes. Its headquarters is located in London. The label was released to produce rave and dance music. It was originally an imprint of  Beggars Banquet's more commercial dance label Citybeat, which was known for records by acts such as Freeez , Starlight, Dream Frequency and the Ultramagnetic MCs. In 2003 XL Recordings won the Music Week A&R award and also released The White Stripes fourth album Elephant which was their first UK number one album and eventually reached double-platinum certification in Brita
